Attack on Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi

Armed militants had arrived at the PSX compound in the sedan and had attempted to enter it from the parking lot, according to initial reports and eyewitness statements. They were seen carrying backpacks and automatic weapons in an amateur video captured by an eyewitness. The equipment, arms and ammunition recovered from them indicated that they had been prepared for a long siege.
After struggling to reach the complex, the insurgents conducted a gun and grenade assault and tried to storm the building while launching an open fire. They were dispatched by military forces and were unable to make much headway in the middle of a strong fire exchange.Initial reports say that all four terrorists were killed at the entrance gates before they could reach the house.Two security guards and a police sub-inspector laid down their lives in defiance of the attack.Later, the entire locality was cordoned off by security forces and a search and clear operation was launched. The PSX was evacuated and the car in which the militants arrived was taken into custody.
SP City Muqadas said that seven people hurt in the assault had been admitted to the Karachi Civil Hospital. Aside from those that were martyred, he said that a police officer who had been wounded in the accident was being handled at the hospital.Director Pakistan Stock Exchange and eyewitness to the attack, Abid Ali Habib, said the militants had stormed the Railway Ground parking area and fired outside the PSX.
