Chief of Staff of the Army (COAS) General Qamar Jawed Bajwa stressed the need for continued stratified risk assessment, management of health crisis trinity, economic decline and psycho-social impact by effective resource management in the midst of coronavirus.
The COAS maintained that in these challenging times, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, the Pakistan Army in cooperation with other national institutions should take all possible steps to bring comfort to the country.
General Bajwa said this during his visit to the National Operations and Command Centre (NCOC). The COAS acknowledged the NCOC’s outstanding efforts to formulate and enforce the response to COVID-19 despite resource and time constraints.
The COAS complimented the NCOC’s civil-military components and highlighted ongoing risk assessment, handling health crisis trinity, economic decline, and psycho-social effects through successful resource management. The COAS was received by Commander Army Air Defense Command and Lieutenant General Hamooduz Zaman Khan, National Coordinator of NCOC. General Bajwa was briefed in detail by DG Operations and Planning NCOC Major General Asif Mehmood Goraya on the multi-sectoral situation related to COVID-19, the implementation of NCOC decisions, projections on the likely spread of the disease in Pakistan and the extension of the support to civil anti – pandemic administration.
The COAS was also teaches about the National Check, Trace and Quarantine Strategy (TTQ) aimed at identifying disease spread, based clusters and hotspots to facilitate targeted lockdowns and the need to maximize resources at all levels.
