Famous Pakistani host of the country’s first ever game show ‘Neelam Ghar,’ an actor and politician, Tariq Aziz died in Lahore on Wednesday at the age of 84. He began his professional career with Radio Pakistan and was one of the most recognizable radio voices. Aziz, a famous author, was also a longtime member of parliament and a revered author. His hosting abilities at the ‘Neelam Ghar’ series have made him a popular name in Pakistan over the past four decades.
“I talked to him on the phone a few days earlier, and I was concerned about him because he had been sick for a long time,” said Mustansar Hussain Tarar, speaking to the media outlets. “I told him that if it weren’t for the COVID-19 and other things, I would have seen you,” he said.
Praising the versatility of Aziz, Tarar said that he was the “biggest star of PTV,” adding that he had demonstrated his skills as a comparator, as an artist and as a poet.
