The Second Batch of the Moderna Covid-19 Vaccination!

Pakistan has received the second batch of 3 million Moderna Covid-19 vaccination from the United States to aid in the battle against the epidemic.

“Today, the United States was happy to provide the Government of Pakistan with three million doses of the life-saving Moderna Covid-19 vaccine for distribution to Pakistanis. These vaccinations were distributed in collaboration with the COVAX facility and UNICEF, according to a statement released on Thursday.

On Monday, US-donated vaccines arrived in Islamabad via the COVAX facility, which is supported by Unicef.

The contribution is part of the 80 million doses the US is providing with the rest of the globe. According to the official statement, “fulfilling our promise to promote equitable worldwide access to safe and effective vaccinations, which are critical to eliminating the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The statement continued, “As President Biden has stated, the United States is dedicated to applying the same urgency to worldwide immunization efforts that we have exhibited at home.”

At a handover ceremony with Prime Minister Special Assistant on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Angela P Aggeler said, “We are here today because we share a shared aim — increasing access to Covid-19 vaccinations for the communities that need them the most.”

“These three million pills are in addition to the 2.5 million doses that the United States provided to the people of Pakistan earlier this month. These vaccinations, which are sourced from our own domestic vaccine supply, are a strong evidence of President Biden’s vow – and our commitment – to stand with Pakistan’s people in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.”

According to the communiqué, the US has provided more over $50 million in Covid-19 support to the Pakistani government through its cooperation.

According to the statement- Since the outbreak, the US and Pakistan have collaborated to:

  • strengthen infection prevention and control
  • improve patient care
  • extend laboratory testing, disease monitoring
  • and case tracking in all districts
  • and support frontline healthcare workers.

The US government sent Pakistan 2.5 million doses of the Moderna corona virus vaccine earlier this month. For a total of 5.5 million doses from its own vaccine supplies.

Separately, the US has given $2 billion to COVAX through USAID. Making it the single greatest contributor to worldwide access to the Covid-19 vaccine.

As part of the COVAX initiative, Pakistan has received 2.4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine since May.
