Marta, a legend star from Brazil has issued an emotional plea to her successors on Sunday, advising them that they would be responsible for the continuity of the women’s sports in such a football-obsessed country.
This 33-year-old lady has been given a nickname by the Brazil great as “Pele in a skirt.”
She is highly considered to be the best football player of all times. She scored a penalty to become the highest scorer, male or female in FIFA World Cup history against Italy in Group-C of the Women’s World Cup.
She had also given good times to its country while being in the national team, in 2004 and 2008 her team Brazil owed silver medals in Olympics and in 2007 it ended up World Cup as runners-up.
But her dream to be the World Cup winner was ruined when her them was knocked out of the 2019’s tournament by the hosts France with after extra time with a 2-1 defeat on Sunday.
She afterward by putting the emphasis over the women’s sports, requested her youngsters to carry the Women’s football ahead anyhow.
The lady who recorded the highest goals score of 17 goals in the world Cup, said with the eyes full of tears, “Women’s football depends on you to survive. Think about it, value it more.”
“We’re asking for support, you have to cry at the beginning and smile at the end,” she continued.
“It’s about wanting more, it’s about training more, it’s about looking after yourself more, it’s about being ready to play 90 minutes and then 30 minutes more,” Marta further said.
“So that’s why I am asking the girls. There’s not going to be a Formiga forever, there’s not going to be a Marta forever, there’s not going to be a Cristiane,” she stated.
Marta has been vocal as she continued looking for correspondence in ladies’ football and she trusts her ongoing record-breaking accomplishments will help the “push for ladies’ strengthening”. “We are attempting to speak to ladies and show how ladies can assume any kind of job,” she said. “Every one of the groups here, we are altogether speaking to [women]. Let me get straight to the point, this isn’t just in the game. “This is a battle for equity no matter how you look at it.”
