THE WORLD POPULATION DAY

World Population day

The World Population Day is going to be observed on Thursday, 11th of July this year (2019).

It is an annual event falling on the 11th of July each year. The basic purpose of celebrating this day is to acknowledge people about the uncontrolled population and to take some measures against the increasing ratio of population. Moreover, this day reminds us about the social & financial issues that are rising drastically due to the increment in the rate of the population around the world every year.

History and Background of the “World Population Day”

The establishment of the “World Population Day” was put in 1989 when an outgrowth of the intrigue created constantly of Five Billion, which was seen on 11 July 1987. The UN approved the occasion as a vehicle to manufacture a consciousness of the population issues and try to concentrate on the criticalness of the matter as well the effect they have on improvement and the earth.

The current year’s World Population Day points out for worldwide the incomplete business of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development. A quarter-century has gone since that milestone meeting, where 179 governments perceived that regenerative wellbeing and sexual orientation uniformity are fundamental for accomplishing reasonable advancement.

Population Statistics

This population statistics are probable to incline to over about 11 billion from 7.6 billion in the years to come. Among the total statistics around 150 million people are homeless and about 795 million people in the world don’t have enough food to lead a healthy life which means among nine people on earth one is starving.

Looking at all these statistics, it becomes very essential for us to spread the awareness related to the basic population issue being faced by worldwide like the need of family planning, poverty, gender equality and human rights, maternal health, and many more.

Much of the growth in population occurs in big cities where living cost already sky higher than the rural areas which act as a death trap for them. The rising population also has a long term effect on the planet’s health on a higher level as the deforestation for the save of living is on its peak & the oil reservation is sucking the roots of earth effecting the environment heavily. Hence, these citizens have to pay higher taxes for their so-called better living.

How do the people celebrate the “World Population Day”?

The World Population day is not a public holiday but it is organized and celebrated by the business groups, community organizations, social workers and many volunteers in through arranging various themes like seminars, discussions, essay competitions, and educational information sessions, etc.

Why control the birth ratio?

Everyone has a right to decide whether how many children they should have.

But the governments have their duties to regulate & balance the population by making some long term policies like imposing additional taxes on more than 2 kids, provide special incentives to the married couples & the most important is to educate the people of all the merits and demerits of the growing population.

The concept of planning for a family is also important because the over-crowded countries get the poorest countries gradually.
